Squeeze the Orbs
Something broken, confusing, or just worth saying? Email support@bendigogames.com and a person will reply. It helps enormously to include your device model and OS version, and — if something went wrong mid-run — what was on screen when it did.
How it works
I don't understand what I'm supposed to be doing.
Drag your thumb to aim and lift it to drop. Two orbs of the same kind that touch become the next one up. The twist is the jar: the walls creep inward for the whole run, and every merge shoves them back out again. So you are not avoiding a losing line — you are buying air. There is a How to play screen behind the ? button on the title screen, and it stays there for good.
How do I actually lose?
Two ways. Usually the squeeze pushes your pile up until a piece comes to rest above the rim — that is a spill. If you almost never merge, the walls simply meet in the middle instead, which is a crush. There is no line drawn across the jar; the rim comes to you.
One wall closed much further than the other.
Working as intended. Each wall keeps its own clock, and a merge mostly feeds the wall it happened next to. Starve one side and the jar closes lopsided, which is the spatial decision the game is built around: feed the hungry side, or build where the board wants you to.
What is the difference between Standard and Hardcore?
In Standard, orbs dim as they sit, and a dim orb refunds less air and scores less — so nursing a big chain is a gamble. Hardcore drops dimming altogether, so a held piece keeps its full worth, and pays for it with a meaner clock: the walls close faster, the jar starts smaller, and the grace period on a spill is shorter. Each mode keeps its own best score.
What are the gems, and where did mine go?
Two Lanterns — the eighth and largest orb — collapse into a Garnet, and two gems of a kind fuse into a better one right there in the jar: Garnet, Amethyst, Emerald, Sapphire, Ruby, Diamond. Only what you are still holding when the run ends is banked, so a gem you fused away is gone by design — you traded it for a bigger one and a large gasp of air. Everything you have ever banked is on the Collection screen, behind the gem button on the title screen, along with the runs that earned them.
Sound
There is no sound.
Check the phone's own silent switch and volume first, then open Settings from the title screen — there is a Sound toggle there, independent of the system. If sound is on and you still hear nothing, please email us: the game turns its own audio off rather than crash if the device's audio engine fails to start, so silence is a real bug report and not something you can be expected to work around.
Can I turn down just some of it?
Yes. Settings → Sound opens a screen with three layers you can switch off independently — Button sounds, Moment chords, and a Jar drone that is off unless you turn it on. The same screen lets you pick which bell a gem rings and retune it. Collision sounds are the game itself and are covered by the main Sound toggle.
The same collision never sounds quite the same twice.
That is deliberate, and it is most of the work in the game. There are no sound files in the app at all; every impact is synthesised from the collision that caused it. Pitch comes from the size of the orbs, how long it rings comes from how buried in the pile the struck orb is, and the exact point where the two surfaces touch decides which resonances get excited. Two identical-looking hits are genuinely different collisions.
Can I turn off the vibration?
Settings → Haptics.
Scores and saves
My progress disappeared.
Scores and the gem collection are stored on the device only. There is no cloud save, no account, and nothing on a server, so deleting and reinstalling the app clears them and they cannot be restored — not by you and not by us. Moving to a new phone does not carry them across unless your phone's own whole-device backup happens to include them.
How do I reset my scores?
There is no reset button inside the game, deliberately — the collection is the slowest thing in it to earn and a mis-tap should not be able to destroy it. Deleting the app clears everything.
My best score dropped after an update.
If an update ever changes how scoring works, old bests are cleared rather than converted, because a number from the old scale is neither comparable nor beatable. Your gem collection is never touched by that. It has not happened to a released version, and if it ever does it will be in the release notes.
Devices and connection
Does it need an internet connection?
No, and it cannot use one. The game makes no network requests of any kind and runs identically in aeroplane mode. See the privacy policy for the detail.
Is there an iPad version? Can I play in landscape?
Not at the moment. It is an iPhone game, portrait only, built for one thumb, and it is declared that way rather than stretched onto a bigger screen it was not designed for. If you would like an iPad version, say so — that is useful to know.
Which iPhones does it run on?
Anything on iOS 15.0 or later.
Privacy
The app collects no data whatsoever, requests no permissions, and makes no network requests. The full privacy policy says so in detail.
