Privacy Policy

Pocket Theory

Pocket Theory does not collect, transmit or share any personal data. There is no account to create and nothing to log in to. The iPhone app makes no network requests of any kind: every page is worked out on your phone.

What is not collected

To be specific, rather than leaving it to inference, the app does not collect any of the following:

The tuner and your microphone

The tuner listens through your microphone so it can show which note you are playing. It asks your permission the first time you open it, and it listens only while the tuner is open.

The sound is analysed on your device, a fraction of a second at a time, and then discarded. It is never recorded, never saved and never sent anywhere. You can turn the permission off at any time in your phone's settings; everything except the tuner keeps working.

What is stored on your device

The app remembers your settings (layout, look, palette, instrument, sound, and how you have arranged each kind of page, the tuner's reference pitch and the metronome's tempo), the pages you have saved, and the pages you opened recently, so search can offer them again. These are kept in the app's own storage on your device.

This information never leaves your device. It is not backed up to any server operated by us, and we have no way to read it. Deleting the app deletes it.

The browser version

The browser version at bendigogames.com/pocket-theory/play/ is the same app. Loading it is an ordinary visit to this website: your browser downloads the app's files from our host, Cloudflare, which processes that request the way any web host does. After that, the app runs from your browser's offline copy and sends nothing. Its settings, saved pages and tuner work exactly as described above, kept in your browser's storage for this site; clearing the site's data in your browser deletes them.

Third parties

Pocket Theory contains no advertising, no analytics services, no social media integrations, no crash-reporting services, and no third-party software development kits that collect data. No data is shared with anyone, because none is collected.

Children

The app is suitable for all ages and collects no data from anyone, including children under 13. It complies with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) by virtue of collecting nothing at all.

Your rights

Data-protection laws such as the GDPR and the CCPA give you rights to access, correct, and delete personal data held about you. We hold no personal data about you, so there is nothing to access, correct, or delete. If you would like this confirmed in writing, contact us at the address below.

Changes to this policy

If this policy ever changes — for example, if a future version of the app adds a feature that requires data — the revised policy will be posted on this page with an updated date, before that version is released.
