Standing on the Moon is made by Bendigo Games, an independent developer based in Australia. This policy covers the iOS app (com.chan.games.standingonthemoon), the Android build, and the version that runs at bendigogames.com. Contact: support@bendigogames.com.

The app collects nothing, stores nothing, and sends nothing anywhere. There is no account, no analytics, no advertising, and no network request of any kind once the app is installed. Everything you see — the Sun's position, Earth's phase, the eclipses, the star catalogue, the comets — is computed on your own device, from code that ships inside the app.

What is not collected

To be specific rather than leave it to inference, the app does not collect any of the following:

• Name, email address, phone number, or any other contact information
• Location data, whether precise or coarse. The app never asks the operating system where you are; the “where you are standing” setting is a place on the Moon, typed or picked by you
• Device identifiers, advertising identifiers, or IP addresses
• Photos, contacts, calendar entries, files, or any other device content
• Usage analytics, crash reports, telemetry, or diagnostics
• Purchase history — the app is free and contains no purchases

What is stored on your device

Nothing. Unusually for an app, this one keeps no save file and no settings file. It does not use local storage, cookies, or a database. Every time you open it, it starts at the current date and the default landing site, because there is nowhere for a preference to have been written down.

That is a design choice rather than an oversight: the app has nothing worth persisting and no reason to leave anything behind on your phone.

Sharing a view

The iOS app has a share button. When you tap it, the app writes a picture of the current sky to its own temporary folder on your device and hands that file to the standard iOS share sheet. What happens next is your choice, in whichever app you pick. The picture is never sent to us and never leaves your device except by your explicit action, and the temporary file lives inside the app's private sandbox, which iOS clears.

Links that leave the app

The information panel credits bendigogames.com. Tapping it opens that address in your browser, and from that point your browser is making an ordinary web request that this policy does not govern. The app itself makes no requests either before or after.

The version on this website

The web version is a set of static files. Loading the page downloads them, and like any website that means the host — Cloudflare, acting for us — handles the request. We run no analytics on it, set no cookies, and embed nothing from anyone else. Once the page has loaded, it makes no further requests, which is why it keeps working in aeroplane mode.

Third parties

Standing on the Moon contains no advertising, no analytics services, no social media integrations, no crash-reporting services, and no third-party software development kits that collect data. No data is shared with anyone, because none is collected.

Children

The app is suitable for all ages and collects no data from anyone, including children under 13. It complies with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) by virtue of collecting nothing at all.

Your rights

Data-protection laws such as the GDPR and the CCPA give you rights to access, correct, and delete personal data held about you. We hold no personal data about you, so there is nothing to access, correct, or delete. If you would like that confirmed in writing, contact us at the address below.

Changes to this policy

If this policy ever changes — for example, if a future version adds a feature that requires data — the revised policy will be posted on this page with an updated date, before that version is released.
