Privacy Policy

Lunar Aspect is made by Bendigo Games, an independent developer based in Australia. This policy covers the iOS app (com.chan.games.standingonthemoon), the Android build, and the version that runs at bendigogames.com. Contact: support@bendigogames.com.

There is no account, no advertising, and nothing that identifies you personally. Everything you see — the Sun's position, Earth's phase, the eclipses, the star catalogue, the comets — is computed on your own device, from code that ships inside the app, and the app keeps working with no connection at all. Separately from the simulation, the iOS app reports anonymous usage statistics, and you can switch them off.

What the iOS app measures

The iOS App Store version includes Google Analytics for Firebase. It reports, anonymously:

• That the app was opened, and how long it was used for
• The app version, the device model, and the iOS version
• A country or region, worked out by Google from a masked IP address. The app never asks iOS where you are and has no location permission; the “where you are standing” setting is a place on the Moon, chosen by you
• An app-instance identifier, which Firebase assigns to each installation. It identifies a copy of the app, not a person, and a reinstall produces a new one

This is used to understand how many people use the app, roughly where in the world they are, and whether they keep using it. It is not linked to your identity, it is not used to track you across other apps or websites, and it is never sold or shared for advertising.

How to turn it off

In the app, open What is this? and find Privacy at the bottom. Untick Share anonymous usage statistics. Reporting stops immediately, and the choice is remembered on your device. Everything in the app keeps working exactly as before — nothing is withheld from you for turning it off.

What is not collected

To be specific rather than leave it to inference, the app does not collect any of the following:

• Name, email address, phone number, or any other contact information
• Precise location, or any location from your device's location services. The country figure described above is derived by Google from a masked IP address, and is the only geographic information that exists
• The advertising identifier (IDFA). The app is built with the Firebase analytics component that excludes advertising-identifier support altogether, which is why the app never shows a tracking permission prompt
• Photos, contacts, calendar entries, files, or any other device content
• Purchase history — the app is free and contains no purchases
• Anything you type, and anything that could identify you personally

What is stored on your device

The app stores a local preference recording whether the introductory tour has been shown, and your analytics choice if you change it. The iOS app also keeps a small count of how many times it has been used and for how long, and which app version last asked for an App Store rating, so that it asks rarely and only someone who has actually used it. That count is never sent anywhere. These stay on your device. Clearing the app data resets them. The website also caches its own files for offline use.

Sharing a view

The app has a Share button. When you tap it, it hands a link to your device's standard share sheet; what happens next is your choice, in whichever app you pick. The link opens the web version of Lunar Aspect at the same date, place and view, and carries only those settings (the time, the site, the view's direction and zoom, and the speed), nothing about you. Nothing is sent to us when you share, and no picture or file is created. Copy link puts the same link on your clipboard.

Ratings

From time to time the iOS app may ask for a rating using Apple's own rating prompt, which Apple draws and limits to a few times a year. The information panel also has a button that opens the App Store's review page. Whether you rate or review is between you and Apple; the app is not told what you chose.

Links that leave the app

The information panel credits bendigogames.com and links to this policy. Tapping either opens that address in your browser, and from that point your browser is making an ordinary web request that this policy does not govern.

The version on this website

The web version is a set of static files and has no analytics of any kind. Loading the page downloads them, and like any website that means the host — Cloudflare, acting for us — handles the request. We run no analytics on it, set no cookies, and embed nothing from anyone else. Once the page has loaded, it makes no further requests, which is why it keeps working in aeroplane mode.

Third parties

Lunar Aspect contains no advertising, no social media integrations, and no third-party software development kits other than Google Analytics for Firebase in the iOS app, described above. Google processes that data on our behalf as our analytics provider; see Firebase's privacy information and Google's privacy policy. No data is sold, and none is shared for advertising.

Children

The app is suitable for all ages. It collects no personal information from anyone, including children under 13: there is no account, no name, no contact details, no advertising and no tracking. The anonymous usage statistics described above can be switched off in the app at any time.

Your rights

Data-protection laws such as the GDPR and the CCPA give you rights to access, correct, and delete personal data held about you. The usage statistics we receive are anonymous and are not linked to your identity, so we hold no personal data that we could connect to you in order to retrieve or delete it. If you would prefer we received nothing at all, the switch described above stops it. If you would like anything here confirmed in writing, contact us at the address below.

Changes to this policy

If this policy ever changes — for example, if a future version adds a feature that requires data — the revised policy will be posted on this page with an updated date, before that version is released. The 18 September 2026 revision, adding the anonymous usage statistics described above, was published under that commitment before the version containing them was submitted.
