Playing

How do I steer the worm?

The worm moves on its own. Put a thumb anywhere on the screen and drag toward where you want it to go: into the earth, up through the surface, out to sea. If you prefer buttons, Settings has a second control scheme, and a left-handed option for either.

What is the Yawn?

In a Frenzy, when "YAWN ready" shows, touch the screen with a second finger (or press the Yawn button, on the button scheme). The worm opens wide and pulls in everything nearby. Once a Frenzy.

How do I finish a place?

Either break it or take what it offers. When the place is spared or broken, swim out into the deep sea at either edge of the stage. If you leave before then, you have fled: no reward, and they will not forget it.

What happens when they offer terms?

A banner says what they are offering. Eat the offering and the place is spared: you get Bones, your hunger back, and food at every later place. Eat anyone else, or let the bell stop, and you have refused them.

What are Spoil and Bones?

Spoil is what you take from a place. It is spent at the Hag's, between places, and it is lost when the run ends. Bones are kept for good.

The castle walls won't let me through.

They are not meant to. The earl's walls stand on foundations that cannot be dug. Come in under the moat, or over the top.

How do I beat The Harrow?

Its face kills. Bite it from behind, or from above.

Your device

My run disappeared.

Runs are stored on the device only, so deleting and reinstalling the app clears them. There is no cloud save and no account to restore from. Closing the app in the middle of a place keeps the run: you come back to the sea chart, and the place is waiting.

There is no sound.

Check that sound effects and music are on in the game's Settings, then check your phone's volume.

Does it need an internet connection?

No. It plays fully offline, flight mode included. The only thing it ever sends is anonymous play statistics, which wait until the phone is next online, and which you can switch off in Settings (PLAY STATS).

Is it in other languages?

Not yet. The game is in English only.
