Privacy Policy
GUST
This version of GUST collects no personal data. There is no account, no sign-in and no advertising, and nothing about you or how you play is sent to us or to anyone else. The one thing the game downloads is a public list of words, described below.
This policy applies to GUST on iPhone, from version 1.0.0. If a later version adds something that sends data (for example an online leaderboard), this page will be rewritten to say exactly what, and the new policy will be posted here before that version is released.
What is not collected
To be specific rather than leave it to inference, GUST does not collect:
- Your name, email address, phone number or any other contact details
- Your location, precise or approximate
- Device identifiers or advertising identifiers
- Photos, contacts, files or anything else on your device
- Usage analytics, crash reports, telemetry or diagnostics
- Purchase history: the game is free and has nothing to buy
What is stored on your device
GUST keeps these in its own private storage on your phone:
- Your career stats, personal bests and the achievements you have unlocked
- Your settings: the look (Gust or Lumen), sound, music, haptics and reduce motion
- A run in progress, so leaving the app does not cost you the run
- Your leaderboard entries and a player name, either one the game makes up or one you choose in Settings. In this version the leaderboard lives on your phone only: your runs and your name are not sent anywhere.
- The most recent copy of the word list below
None of this leaves your device. We cannot see it, and deleting the app deletes it. Your phone's own backup (an iCloud or computer backup) may include the app's files along with everything else it backs up; that is between your device and your Apple account, and we never see it.
The one download: a word list
So that player names can be checked for offensive words, GUST downloads a public
list of words from our website (bendigogames.com/moderation/name-filter.json)
when it starts. The request sends nothing from the game: no name, no score, no
identifier. As with any web page you open, the website's host, Cloudflare, sees the
connection's IP address in order to answer it. We do not use it to identify you. If
the download fails, the game uses the list it already has.
Links and sharing
The Privacy, Support and App Store links in Settings open in your phone's browser or the App Store, which have their own privacy policies. The share button hands a short line of text about your run to your phone's share sheet; the game does not see where you send it.
Ratings
After a new personal best the game may ask Apple to show its standard rating card, at most once per version. That card is Apple's; the game never sees whether or how you rated it.
Third parties
GUST shows no advertising and includes no analytics, crash reporting or advertising service that is switched on in this version. No data is shared with anyone, because none is collected.
Children
GUST collects no personal data from anyone, including children under 13, and so complies with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) by collecting nothing.
Your rights
Data-protection laws such as the GDPR and the CCPA give you the right to access, correct and delete personal data held about you. We hold no personal data about you, so there is nothing to access, correct or delete. If you would like that confirmed in writing, email us.
Changes to this policy
If a version of GUST changes what it collects, this policy will be updated, with a new date, before that version is released.
